From September 18th to 20th, 2020, hosted by the Environmental Geotechnical Engineering Branch of the Chinese Society of Rock Mechanics and Engineering and undertaken by Henan University and Henan Civil and Architectural Society, the "Third Youth Academic Forum on Environmental Geomechanics and Engineering" was held in Kaifeng City Zhongzhou International Hotel was held grandly. Xu Shaokang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Henan University; Liu Hanlong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Chongqing University, Chairman of the Environmental Geotechnical Engineering Branch of the Chinese Society of Rock Mechanics and Engineering; President of Henan Urban Construction College; Secretary-General Liu Kai, Deputy Dean of the Academy of Science and Technology Xie Songqiang, and Party Secretary Li Shejiao of the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture attended the opening ceremony. Professor Yue Jianwei, Dean of the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture presided over the opening ceremony.

Liu Hanlong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Chongqing University, Vice President, and Chairman of the Environmental Geotechnical Engineering Branch of the Chinese Society of Rock Mechanics and Engineering, delivered a speech. He expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the convening of this conference on the occasion of the nation's ups and downs of the new crown epidemic. He briefly reviewed the history of environmental geotechnical engineering research in my country, and said that as the country attaches importance to environmental protection, environmental geotechnical research will receive more and more attention. Wang Zhaodong, president of Henan Urban Construction College and Henan Civil and Architectural Society, attended the opening ceremony and congratulated the opening of the academic forum on behalf of the local society.

The forum focused on the theme of "Ecological Restoration of the Yellow River Basin", and conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on contaminated soil solidification and isolation, landfill treatment, special soil properties research, and microbial geotechnical reinforcement technology.

The conference invited a group of young experts and scholars who are active in innovative thinking in the field of environmental geotechnical engineering and have made outstanding achievements to fully demonstrate the latest achievements in the field of environmental geotechnical research in my country. Professor Ding Xuanming from Chongqing University, Associate Professor Zhang Yi from Tsinghua University, Professor Chen Yumin and Professor Kong Gangqiang from Hohai University, Professor Pei Huafu from Dalian University of Technology, Professor Ni Pengpeng from Sun Yat-sen University, Professor Liu Lei from Wuhan Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Zhang Jianwei from School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Henan University 31 experts and scholars including Professor Zhang Chunshun of Monash University in Australia and Qin Hongyu researcher of Flinders University conducted in-depth exchanges around the theme of the conference. Nearly 100 people attended the conference. The web video live broadcast platform was opened at the same time. Nearly 2,000 experts and scholars from across the country watched the grand event online at the same time

The two-day academic forum closed smoothly on the afternoon of the 20th. The closing ceremony was presided over by Zhang Jianwei, deputy dean of the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture. Party Secretary Li Shejiao delivered a closing speech.

This academic forum is an academic event in the field of environmental geotechnical engineering undertaken by our school. It has an important role in broadening academic horizons, enhancing mutual understanding, and cooperation and common development.
